Reverse any text string instantly
Enter your text and choose a reversal mode. "Reverse Entire Text" flips all characters from end to start. "Reverse Each Word" reverses the letters within each word while keeping word order. "Reverse Word Order" keeps each word intact but reverses the order of words. This is useful for creating mirror text, puzzles, or just for fun.
| Mode | Input | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Reverse characters | Hello World | dlroW olleH |
| Reverse words | Hello World | World Hello |
| Reverse each word in place | Hello World | olleH dlroW |
| Reverse lines | line1↵line2 | line2↵line1 |
| Flipped text (upside-down) | Hello | o‗‗ǝH — substituted Unicode look-alikes, not a real reversal |
| Mirror text | Hello | Requires a CSS transform, not a character change |
Intl.Segmenter with granularity: "grapheme".str.split("").reverse().join("") splits on UTF-16 code units and is unsafe for anything but ASCII.[...str], is better — it splits on code points — but still separates combining marks and joined emoji sequences. The longest widely-cited single-word palindromes in English are redivider and detartrated (11 letters). Sentence palindromes ignore spaces and punctuation: "A man, a plan, a canal: Panama" and "Never odd or even". Malayalam മലയാളം is itself a near-palindrome in transliteration, and Sanskrit has a long tradition of chitrakavya verses readable in both directions. Numeric palindromes are the reason the tool is used in programming interviews — reversing an integer without converting it to a string is a standard exercise.
Because most emoji are stored as more than one code unit, and many — families, skin tones, flags — are sequences joined by zero-width joiners. Reversing by character splits those sequences and the pieces render as replacement squares.
Segment into grapheme clusters with Intl.Segmenter using granularity "grapheme", reverse that array and join it. The classic split("").reverse().join("") works only for plain ASCII.
Split the text on whitespace, reverse the resulting array, then join with a single space. This is unaffected by the Unicode problems that plague character reversal, because whole words stay intact.
No. Upside-down text substitutes visually similar Unicode characters — a turned e for an e, for instance — so it is a character mapping, not a reversal. It also usually reverses the order as well, to complete the illusion.
Redivider and detartrated, both eleven letters, are the usual answers among standard dictionary words. Longer examples exist in specialist vocabularies and in constructed words.
