How Does the Text Sorter Work?

Enter your text with one item per line, then choose a sort method. A-Z sorts alphabetically, Z-A sorts in reverse. Sort by length orders lines from shortest to longest or vice versa. Numeric sort orders by numerical value. Shuffle randomizes the order, and Reverse simply flips the line order without sorting. This tool is perfect for organizing lists, data cleanup, and content management.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does alphabetical sorting work?
A-Z sorts lines from the beginning of the alphabet to the end. Z-A sorts in reverse alphabetical order. Both are case-insensitive by default.
What is numeric sort?
Numeric sort treats lines as numbers and sorts them by value, so "2" comes before "10" unlike alphabetical sort where "10" comes before "2".
Does it preserve blank lines?
Blank lines are included in the sort. If you want to remove them first, use our Blank Line Remover tool.
