Generate placeholder text for your designs
Select how many paragraphs, sentences, or words you need and click Generate. The tool creates standard Lorem Ipsum placeholder text that designers and developers have used since the 1500s. The generated text mimics natural language patterns, making it ideal for mockups, wireframes, and layout testing. Simply copy the output and paste it into your project.

The strongest practice is not better placeholder text but real content, early — even rough, even wrong. Design from a real headline, a real product name and a real price and the layout problems surface while they are still cheap to fix. Where that is genuinely unavailable, use placeholder text drawn from the actual domain so word lengths are honest, and keep Lorem Ipsum for what it is genuinely good at: filling a long-form body block whose only job is to be a grey rectangle of the right density.
Nothing coherent — it is deliberately scrambled Latin. The words come from Cicero’s De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum of 45 BC, where the fragment "dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet" means "pain itself, because it is pain".
Because it keeps a layout review focused on the design rather than the wording, and because its letter and word-length distribution mimics English closely enough to produce a realistic block of text.
On a live page, yes. Search engines index it, and a page of untranslatable placeholder text is a clear low-quality signal. It is harmless in a design file or a staging environment.
Since at least the 1500s, when an unknown printer scrambled the Cicero passage to make a type specimen. It spread through Letraset transfer sheets in the 1960s and then through desktop publishing software.
Real content wherever possible, even in draft form — it is the only way to catch layout problems caused by actual word lengths. If you need filler, use text from your own subject area so the word lengths are realistic.
