Rolling 2d20 and keeping the higher — the "advantage" mechanic
P(both dice below 15) = (14/20)² = 0.49
So P(at least one is 15 or above) = 1 − 0.49 = 0.51
With a single d20 the same chance is 6/20 = 0.30
Advantage lifts the chance of hitting 15+ from 30 % to 51 % — roughly equivalent to a +5 bonus in the middle of the range, and worth much less near the extremes.
One die is uniform — every face equally likely. Add a second and the distribution becomes triangular, peaking at 7, because there are more ways to make a middling total than an extreme one. Add more dice and the shape converges on a normal distribution, which is the central limit theorem in its most tangible form. This is why 3d6 (average 10.5, tightly clustered) feels very different in play from 1d20 (average 10.5, completely flat) even though the means match: the d20 produces wild swings, the 3d6 produces reliable mediocrity with rare extremes.
Seven. It can be made six different ways — 1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2 and 6+1 — out of 36 equally likely combinations, giving a 16.67 % chance.
1 in 36, or 2.78 %. Each die independently has a 1 in 6 chance of showing six, and one sixth times one sixth is one thirty-sixth.
10.5, from the formula (n + 1) / 2. Because 10.5 is not a face on the die, no single roll ever produces the average.
216 ordered outcomes, from 6 to the power of 3. There are only 56 distinct unordered combinations, which is why totals in the middle of the 3-to-18 range are far more common than the ends.
A dice roller built on a properly seeded random number generator is uniform across faces, and browsers expose a cryptographically secure generator. Physical dice, especially cheap moulded ones with hollowed pips, are measurably biased — casino dice are machined to tight tolerances and have flush, filled pips for exactly this reason.
